Relief of Headaches - Naturally
Relief of Headaches - NATURALLY
It seems like the current ‘state of the world’ has a person experiencing more headaches than normal. Tension, anxiety, stress… these can trigger headaches in anyone at any time. However, there are natural ways to relieve headache pain and relieve the tensions causing it:
Chiropractic – You may find relief from chiropractic adjustments. Neck pain, back pain and tension can all lead to headache pain. Over the years, I’ve seen my patients’ “quality of life” improve with chiropractic care.
Hydrate – Dehydration is a common cause of headaches, but can be easily fixed. Fill up your largest water bottle and drink up.
Relaxation techniques – Meditation, yoga, and deep breathing exercises have been shown to lower stress levels and reduce headache frequency and tension. Performing these techniques regularly can be very effective for reducing pain and improving your health.
Acupressure and massage – Many people find relief from acupressure and massaging tense muscles. Acupressure is based on ancient Chinese medicine that believes stimulating certain pressure points on the body may help the body heal.
Avoid food triggers – Pay attention to what you’re eating on days you experience headache pain. Many migraine sufferers know that certain foods can trigger their migraines . By limiting their intake of those foods, they can keep migraines at a minimum. For example, chocolate, processed meats, coffee, nuts, citrus fruits, aspartame, salad dressings and alcoholic drinks are some of the most common headache triggering foods. If your headaches are becoming a regular part of your week, start keeping a food diary to pinpoint possible triggers.
Essential oils – Certain essential oils are thought to help ease headache pain. Peppermint, for instance, is commonly used to ease tension headache pain when applied to the temples and forehead. For proper use, it’s important to thoroughly read all instructions that come with your oils.
Sleep – Did you know that sleeping too much or too little can cause migraine headaches? Maintaining a regular sleep schedule can help prevent them.
You don’t have to live with frequent headaches. Pain is a signal that something is not right, so try to stay positive while pinpointing the cause. And remember, we’re here to help you. Let’s work together to find your relief.
