I could come up with a pretty decent size list of things that I should do (but somehow fall short of) month after month. Can you relate?
I’ve always known that donating blood is one of the more noble things a person can do. I have put it off for the typical reasons (too busy, can’t afford to be tired, needles are icky...etc.).
I owe it to my awesome wife Michelle for finally getting this particular activity off the ‘should’ list and onto the ‘did’ list. We made it a ‘date’. And if there’s one thing to know about me, everything must be a competition. So, in this case, it was a race to see who could fill their blood bag up faster. The staff at the donation site thought that was pretty funny and, by the way, were happy to tell me that I won going away. Maybe next time, Michelle!
There appears to be a reward for donating blood beyond the obvious great feeling of knowing you’ve helped save a life. Numerous studies of late suggest that men and post menopausal women who donate as little as twice a year have a marked reduction in heart attacks and stroke. Other studies suggest that there may be a reduction in certain types of cancer. I’ll let you look these studies up and draw your own conclusions, but it looks pretty convincing to me.
Going to the American Red Cross website to find a place to donate is a good place to start.
So, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day and healthy hearts, we are offering $5 off our very high quality fish oil, Omega Pure EPA-DHA 500 (Feb. 1 -28, 2021 only at our office). Taking high quality fish oil daily has been shown to reduce risk of heart attack, stroke, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and lower inflammation. Purity is essential when taking fish oil, as it can often be contaminated with heavy metals and other toxins found in our oceans. This product is 3rd party certified to be free of all the bad stuff.
