Feeling Blue?

Dear friends,

Here’s wishing you and yours a very Happy and Healthy New Year!

This year, I’m going to start by looking at the world of Blue Zones. This is a term used to describe pockets of the world where people live longer and with a greater degree of health than the rest of us. I find this utterly fascinating and inspiring. What you’ll find is that there is no ‘one thing’ that one can do that promotes exceptional health. So, each month starting in February, I’ll be reviewing one of these lifestyle behaviors and giving you my take on it.

To find the path to long life and health, Dan Buettner and team study the world's "Blue Zones," communities whose elders live with vim and vigor to record-setting age. In his talk, he shares the nine common diet and lifestyle habits that keep them spry past age 100.

Buettner talks about universal lifestyle behaviors that promote longevity, why they're so hard to adopt in the U.S., and how one town undertook its own Blue Zone experiment, to great effect.

Speaking of health, it’s still cold/flu/coronavirus season so let’s all take care of ourselves! One of the most powerful steps one can take is in taking Vitamin D. Most people do well by taking 5,000 IU/ day between September and April. Vitamin D, when kept optimal has a tremendous impact on keeping oneself protected against viruses and bacteria, but it’s also crucial in maintaining a good mood, strong bones, and in preventing cancer, autoimmune conditions and heart disease….all in one tiny pill per day. This month, get a two month’s supply of vitamin D with K2 for 20% off normal retail. ($16 per bottle

Please ask your MD to get a blood level next time you’re in for a checkup to get a more precise idea of how much you need to take.
If you don’t work with an MD on a regular basis, you can go to http://www.grassrootshealth.net and order a home test kit.

I’d also like to point you in the direction of our Facebook page.  Dr. Hamill will be sharing what’s going on at KMHC and other aspects of his life on a regular basis.  It’s bound to be fun! So please like KMHC on Facebook to keep in the loop!  You can click on the Facebook icon below our phone number.
