Blue Zone - Belief & Belonging
Hello friends!
Research has shown that people who attend multiple faith-based services each month live longer. The stats the Blue Zone sources quote is a four to fourteen year increased life expectancy. That’s quite a range admittedly, but the central theme here is that there is something about believing in a higher power and sharing that belief/faith which somehow translates to getting some bonus years on this planet. I’m pretty open with patients, friends and family about my beliefs. I like to think that I have one foot in the world of black and white science and the other in the world that allows for there to be MUCH MORE to this life than meets the eye. I’ve seen way too many amazing things that defy common logical explanation to ever assume science has all the answers. I’ll spare you any proselytizing other than to say, I think it’s your responsibility as a human being to think about these things and explore the world of faith and the unknown. And, if you find a group of people that share your beliefs, get together with them once in awhile.
Believe it or not there is a book that explored the world of prayer from a scientific standpoint. Guess what their conclusions were? Prayer works. In fact they tinkered with things and found there was a way to pray that increased the odds of those prayers being ‘answered’.
Lately it seems like a good number of people have been asking me what supplements they should be taking. I’m happy to give my opinion. To me, everyone should be taking a QUALITY multi vitamin/mineral, Vitamin D3 (fall through spring) and fish oil. Beyond that it comes down to addressing other specific health challenges you’re experiencing and it’s much more situational. That’s it though. Three things. Now let’s be clear about one thing. A supplement is supposed to be as the word implies. It is not a ‘replacement’. The great majority of your nutritional needs ought to be met by your diet.
For August (8-1-2022 to 8-31-2022 only at the KMHC office) we’re offering $5 off our very high quality Multi Vitamin and mineral, Nutridyn’s Essential Multi. Is it more expensive than what can be found on the shelves at Wal-Mart? Absolutely! Is your health worth it? I believe it is.
